Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is luwak coffee?

A: Luwak (kopi luwak) is made from coffee beans that have been eaten and naturally processed by Asian palm civets. The resulting coffee is notably smooth and low in bitterness. Most plantations also offer free samples of ginger tea, cacao, vanilla, and other local products.

Q: Can I participate in the Tirta Empul purification ritual?

A: Yes! Sarongs and sashes are provided at the temple. The ritual involves immersing yourself in the holy spring’s eleven purification spouts. Modest swimwear is recommended underneath your sarong.

Q: How cold is it in Kintamani?

A: At 1,500m elevation, Kintamani can be 10–15°C cooler than the coast. Temperatures typically range from 18–24°C. A light jacket or cardigan is recommended

Q: What makes Penglipuran Village special?

A: Penglipuran is one of Bali’s best-preserved traditional villages, governed entirely by adat (customary) law. The village has famously banned
motorised vehicles and has won national awards for cleanliness. Residents maintain traditional Balinese compound architecture dating back centuries
